Ever wonder what it sounds like underwater? Leave it to our own MacGyver, Adam MacKinnon, Sapelo Island’s Education Coordinator to find a way for us to listen that does not require actually going underwater. Adam purchased a pool leak detector, connected it to a speaker and attached it to a pole and voila, he created a device that allows us to hear underwater sounds. On this day, Adam invited the FOS Green Thumbers to listen to snapping shrimp in the creek behind Long Tabby. Snapping Shrimp are characterized by having asymmetrical claws, the larger of which is typically capable of producing a loud snapping sound.
